The London Sewage Company first began life in Late 2013 at The 12 Bar Club in London’s Denmark Street when Ken Cooper, drummer from Pope and Barnet, 12 Bar Manager, were discussing a mutual love of musical styles. Through the conversation, one of them (can’t remember who?) suggested that they formed a band, Mic Stoner, Bass player with Pope (Pope, incidentally were playing at The 12 Bar Club that night) soon joined and discussions were underway as who to have join on Guitar. Pete Sim (soon to become Dirty Pete) joined on lead Guitar whilst also juggling his duties with The Theme and Wolf Club Lunar Society. The last and certainly not the least member of the band was Leigh Heggarty, Formerly of The Price now with Ruts DC.

Next up was to decide the name……….

In the summer months when crossing Denmark Street in the mornings, some mornings a scent of sewers would come wafting up through the drains on Denmark Street by St.Giles Church, which would tell Barnet that the basement of The 12 Bar maybe a bit Whiffy to start the day with.

This stuck in Barnets mind and initially he thought The Denmark Street Sewage Company would be a great name for a band, but eventually decided that The London Sewage Company had more of a ring to it, so hence the band was named !

Mic and Barnet got down to songwriting in early 2014 and a gig for Mic’s birthday was booked on Saturday May 10th, at The 12 Bar Club…Naturally. The night was a rip roaring success. The London Sewage Company played 7 songs and the crowd insisted they played Bridget twice. The next gig followed at The 100 Club in July supporting Menace.

Since then The London Sewage Company have played Rebellion Festival, The Shepherds Bush Empire (As support to The Men They Couldn’t Hang) and The prestigious Wild At Heart Club In Berlin. Plus they have had residencies at The Dublin Castle In Camden Town and The Alleycat on Denmark Street – close to their spiritual home………
